Unravelling

NFS

4.5 x 5 x 3 ”

Hand stitching on dyed organza, bound using a modified Japanese stab binding stitch

Unravelling is a journey through the heart of grief. It documents a very specific time of my life for my family that includes life-threatening bike accidents, illness, deaths, divorce and the grief that accompanied those events. I stitched words onto silk organza and then wrote about those words and what was coming up for me on the paper that it is mounted to. Writing out my thoughts and feelings is healing for me, it allows for a release and a documentation of what is going on in the moment so I can let it go. It was also a way to process and acknowledge the grief that was showing up in my life.
